Has the Régie du Batiment du Québec issued recent standards in insulation?
The law amending the building code to foster the energy efficiency of buildings came into force on August 30, 2012. As part of the government’s objectives for the energy strategy and action plan on climate change, this regulation aims to reduce energy consumption in buildings throughout Quebec.
The new regulation applies to construction and expansion of all buildings of three storeys or less or a maximum area of 600 sq. m and whose main use is housing.
The requirements in terms of energy efficiency in buildings that have been revised include: insulation, thermal bridges, the amount of windows and ventilation.
